As we are approaching the next phase of mini-sessions, I thought it would be useful to put together a list of FAQs to share with you all. This would be useful for families that have booked in already to know what to expect on the day, but also for anyone that is on the fence about whether they should go for a mini-session or a full session.

What is a mini session?

There are certain times within the year that are either in high demand or I may have less availability. To enable me to accommodate more families, on a mini session day I will photograph 5-6 families at pre-booked times, one after the other.

These mini sessions are much shorter than a full photo session, usually around 20 minutes, and as I am photographing a number of families on the same date, these sessions are also much cheaper than my usual family sessions.

Is a mini session right for my family?

Mini sessions are great if you want a few updated family photos but aren't looking to spend as much as a full session. They are also a great option if you would like to get regular photos taken each year to capture the family as they grow.

However, if your family includes a small baby or your children are particularly shy, you may want to consider a full family session to give them the time to warm up and get to know me. Mini sessions are also only suitable for up to 6 people within the same family so if you would like extended family members within your photos, a full family session will give us the time we need to capture everyone.

What do we wear?

The number one thing I want you to remember is that being comfortable is everything! If you are uncomfortable or wearing something that doesn't feel like 'you', it will come across in the photos. So wear something that makes you feel happy on the inside as this will shine through!

You also need to consider the environment and the season that you are in. If you are in fields or woodland in the Autumn, wrap up in chunky knitwear, hats and scarves. If we are heading to the beach in the summer, ditch those shoes altogether!

If you have anything in your wardrobe that is sheer or fabrics that flow, these show up so beautifully in photographs because they capture snapshots of movement.

Items to avoid are stiff clothes that get crumpled and need adjusting. Prints, logos, and bright colours as sometimes these detract from the most important parts of the photograph – you!

When should we arrive?

As family mini-sessions are booked one after the other, please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before your booked time so that we can start your session on time and get all the photos of your family that you are hoping for. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the location and get parked without feeling rushed. Unfortunately if you are late, we are unable to push the session back as this will affect other families after you.

What is your cancellation policy?

Mini sessions are non-refundable so please make sure you are able to make the date and time you have chosen before booking.

If you are unable to attend your session and you have given more than 24 hours notice, you will be credited the amount you have paid to use towards a future session.

What happens if it rains on the day?

I always plan a back up date, usually within the same week, should your mini session be rained off. Should you not be able to attend the back up date, you will be given a credit to use towards a future session.

Can I give my mini session to someone else?

Yes absolutely. If you are unable to attend your mini session, you are able to gift it to someone else. Please contact me beforehand to let me know who to expect on the day.

How long does it take before I can see my photos?

You will receive a link to your personalised gallery up to 14 days after your photo session. You will be able to choose your favourites and download any digital images that are included in your package straight from your gallery.

Can I upgrade my package?

Absolutely! If you would like to purchase additional digital images or you would like them as prints, you can order and pay for these directly from your gallery. If you need any help choosing or ordering, give me a shout as I am always happy to assist wherever I can.
