Hey you! Can I tell you something I genuinely believe with my whole heart?
The photos you’ll love the most are the ones that’ll make you do a little happy exhale five years from now. They are almost never the ones where everyone was perfectly still, looking directly at the camera, smiling on cue.
They’re the other ones you’ll want … the moments in between that have been frozen in time. And I think, deep down, you already know that.

Your youngest doing a dramatic flop into the grass or refusing to look at the camera because something far more interesting is happening over there … I see you kid!
When you look back at them, you don’t just see a photo. You remember exactly how that day felt. The warmth, the silliness, the love that was just… there, doing its thing, not performing for anyone.
That’s what I’m here to capture.
A few relaxed group shots are always part of what we do together. But they’re the starting point, not the whole session.Because most people can only hold a pose for about 15 seconds before it starts to look a bit…stiff!
And stiff is not what we want.
The pressure to look right, smile right and stand right … it’s exhausting. And it shows up in photos in a way that’s hard to ignore. Like your slightly tense jaw, the smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes or the kids who’ve already checked out.
Sound familiar? It’s not you … it’s the format.

Honestly? It looks like a really nice afternoon out.
We’ll walk, explore, play, maybe have a little adventure together – and I’ll be there the whole time, capturing what naturally unfolds. Here’s how it tends to work:
I give prompts that spark real interaction between you and your people. Nothing scripted, nothing that feels like a drama exercise. Just enough to get the good stuff flowing – and then I step back and let it happen.
This is one of my biggest soapboxes, honestly. Your children do not need to sit still, look at the camera, or smile on demand for your session to be a success. If there’s a wobble, a bit of wandering, a moment where nobody’s cooperating – it’s genuinely fine, and it often leads to the warmest, most real moments of the whole afternoon.
What I’m looking for isn’t perfect behaviour. It’s just your actual family, doing what your actual family does.
My job is to make you forget the camera is there. Not through tricks or gimmicks – just through creating an experience that feels relaxed, friendly, and genuinely low-pressure. Think less “photoshoot,” more “lovely afternoon out with a friend who happens to have a camera.”
Between you and your family, the love and warmth is already there. I’m not creating it. I’m just there when it shows up – ready to catch it before it slips by.

Here’s the thing about family photos. The years move fast – embarrassingly fast – and the small, everyday moments are the ones that disappear first.
Not the big milestones. You’ll remember those. It’s the little things that get blurry. The way your toddler ran with their arms out. The particular laugh your partner has when they’re really, truly caught off guard. The way your kids were with each other right now, at this age, in this season.
Those moments are worth preserving. Not a polished, staged version of them – the real thing.
And that’s exactly what unposed photography is for.
Mums especially – this one’s for you. So often you’re the one behind the camera, making sure everyone else is captured. But you are part of this story too. You deserve to be in the frame, not just in the memory. And I’ll gently make sure that happens.
I’m Amy, a natural, story-led family photographer based in Sussex. I photograph families across the county, from Chichester and Arundel to Brighton and beyond, always with a calm, unhurried approach that lets your lot just get on with being yourselves while I quietly capture what’s actually happening.
If any of this resonated with you, I’d love to have a chat. You can find out more about my family photography here, or drop me a message to check my availability and grab a copy of my welcome guide.
Let’s find out if we’re the perfect fit. Because right now is worth remembering. 🤍
